Welcome to the forums, newcomer! What are your thoughts on PC builds on X99? If I were you, I would have invested more and chosen something more concurrent by 2026.

depends on the purpose it serves:
it’s still functional with 64gb memory and a 22c/44t Broadwell CPU, suitable for work and multitasking, though not ideal for gaming.
if you’re focused on gaming and need to save money, purchasing a budget X99 bundle from AliExpress would be better than opting for a more powerful Haswell/Broadwell CPU with fewer cores.
a 6c/12t or 8c/16t CPU with a higher base clock and 4GHz turbo boost would be more appropriate for gaming.
something akin to the Xeon E5-1650 v4 would be optimal for gaming.
the platform’s performance is currently limited and declining—yes, you have many cores, but this 22c Xeon CPU performs similarly to an 8c/16t Ryzen 3800X in multitasking, while lagging in single-core tasks and gaming.

With 64GB ECC RAM, I’d convert the setup into a TrueNAS Core server and set up Plex. It would be quite a strain on the CPU cores for TruNAS. Each of my two Xeon machines has only eight cores, but you should manage multiple Jails and Plugins on 22 cores. Whatever suits you best.
I wouldn’t choose X99 for a gaming machine, but in today’s rising prices, you’ve created a solid setup.
Good job.
