This preview section explains the current status and settings. It notes your location in version 22H4, despite previous updates being paused to 24H2. It mentions the recall feature is missing from 24H4, though you received the Copilot update. You're unsure about what will happen if you remove the update. The entry was last changed on March 3, 2025 by Mark Kaine.

Preview updates typically just are that. They’re for those who choose to take a chance and face potential risks to see what changes Microsoft intends to release at the upcoming patch Tuesday. It’s a kind of masochistic trial run. Occasionally, these preview updates might lead to issues. You can disregard them and simply wait for the more reliable, tested update on Tuesday. These updates consistently appear on the second Tuesday each month, which means March 11th next time.

What processor do you have? This Recall function needs a CPU with an AI accelerator offering 40 TOPS, such as an Intel Core Ultra. Without one of those high-performance chips, it seems Recall won't be available, at least I don’t see it.

It was automatically installed a Ryzen 9 7940HX. Everything seems mixed up... I checked the details and it showed 22H4, then later it displayed 22H2 (or maybe 3). I did some registry changes, restarted multiple times, and now it’s back to 22H2. Yet the preview update is still present. It feels like I might have misread the numbers, but it seems the 22H4 info was there before I forced a change. It’s strange, especially since an update added Copilot. All confusing!

The latest update is 24H2, which has been widely discussed since its release. New installations now automatically enable Bitlock encryption, even on Home versions. The Recall function remains controversial despite its usefulness for certain AI processors. There were several bugs reported, many of which are still unaddressed. Early versions had issues with DRAM-less SSD support. This release marks the typical autumn update cycle, usually in October.

oh yeah, you're right i messed up the numbers, comes from being on old win 10 versions for so long (one of my laptops is still on win 10 "creators update"! ) Also i think this Strix was on 23H2 initially ... which just adds to the confusion... So there isn't much i could do right now is there...? Still wondering what would happen if i delete or rollback the latest update ... will it bring me back to 23H3 or whatever, and is this even a good idea??
