Hey everyone, just finished setting up a system with a Ryzen 2700 and Wraith Prism. The HWMonitor shows idle temps between 44-47°C. That’s pretty typical for those components, but it makes you wonder if more cooling would help. My 1070 Ti also runs around 46-49°C in idle, which seems normal too. Thanks for the tips!
That's typical. Remember, most processors will power down at 100°C and slow down near 95°C naturally.
My room temperature is around 24°C, and my Ryzen 7 2700 runs at 32°C with the default Prism cooler. The case is an older 2002 ASUS model, featuring a single 90mm exhaust and one 90mm high-pressure intake.
I believe it's important to mention I only have a display adapter, which was built during a shortage. That might explain why my temperatures are lower. Additionally, when using thermal paste on AMD CPUs, it's best to spread it in a "X" pattern from corner to corner. I don't care what you told you or what video you watched, the "X" pattern is the correct method for Ryzen chips. Applying a small "pea" sized drop won't reach the corners, which is crucial for effective cooling.
I have my ryzen 7 down to 28c idle temp. CPU air cooler Thermal Right Assassin King SE 120 . top back exhaust as well as rear exhaust. three front intake and side panel intake. Its overkill but my temps are great and it never drips in performance. Try cutting a hole in your cable cover panel behind the CPU location so it can vent the motherboard. maybe a fan would work there too?
