I recently purchased a new water cooler with a fractal design Kelvin S24 and am planning to overclock my CPU. The current temperatures are quite low, about 20°C (internet) and 38°C (games) on 4.2GHz/1.375V. I’m not concerned about the temperatures, but I’d like to know what clock speed or voltage my motherboard can support.

I installed my old FX 6300 up to 5.4ghz with a water cooler. I understand it has strong overclocking capabilities, but I'm curious about the limits of my motherboard's support.

I'm using an old FX 6300 at 5.4ghz with a water cooler. I understand it has strong overclocking capability, but I'm curious about the limits of my motherboard. I think it could reach close to 5ghz if the board is of good quality.

Epicness937 shared their experience with the 6300 at 5.4ghz using a water cooler. They mentioned the potential for further overclocking but wondered if their motherboard could support it. They believe it might reach close to 5ghz on a quality board. Regarding the VRMs, they reported temperatures between 40-62°C at 4.4GHz.

I’m trying to see if my old FX 6300 can really hit 5.4ghz with a water cooler and a good quality board. I believe it has the potential for high overclocking, but I want to know if my motherboard can support it. I think it could reach close to 5ghz. Regarding the VRMs, I’ve experienced temperatures around 40-62°C at 4.4GHz. For my 240mm water coolers, I usually get around 5.4ghz with a max of 86 under load, but at 5ghz it drops to about 80-82. I’d suggest setting it to 4.8ghz and see how it performs since CPUs vary.
