Hello everyone. I'm just starting out with overclocking and recently bought an Intel Core i7-6700K along with an Asus Maximus IX Hero. The stock voltage for the turbo range is between 1.205 and 1.210 with temperatures around the mid-50s to lower 60s. I managed to get a stable overclock up to 4.5ghz at 1.265 volts (set in BIOS to 1.250). At this speed, temperatures are in the mid-60s to lower 70s, with a peak of around 80 on the hottest core. I'm curious if these settings are safe for such a high overclock and what kind of performance loss might occur. Thanks to all who respond and have a great day/night.
I'm doing well with my Cryorig H7 on an i5 7600k at 4.5Ghz. The Vcore stays close to the 1.260V-1.272V range during auto while OCCT is running, averaging around 79C with occasional spikes up to 82C. You're in good shape. Don't worry about degradation as long as you're not pushing those frequencies continuously at full capacity all day.
