Yes yes I know its a Pentium Pro machine but bear with. I see that the maximum officially supported ram configuration is 128Mb but I'm wondering if 64Mb sticks would work in it to bring the total amount of ram up to 256Mb. Edit: Or for that matter even 512Mb total as 128Mb non parity sticks exist it looks like.

The extra storage space won't be accessible since the BIOS isn't configured to use it. You're unlikely to notice more than the limited capacity during any operation. It's been quite some time... However, it seems you might be able to push these systems beyond their limits and even expand cache sizes. This would likely work with Windows 95/98 or Linux.

I need to run Windows 98 to get GPU drivers since I got a Radeon 7000, which is way too much for this setup. The cache size won<|pad|> can’t be expanded on this system—the Pentium Pro CPUs already include built-in cache, around 1Mb. Overclocking isn’t sure for me.

The on-board cache is L2. On chip is L1 if I'm not mistaken. But you're probably right. I'm pretty sure you can overclock it thougb.
