I received a new PC from nzxt with the Starter Pro BLD Kit. After installing 16GB of RAM and adjusting the BIOS settings to 3200 MHz, the system started functioning properly. When I played Apex Legends, frame rates dropped significantly from 140 to 30 FPS. I checked the NVIDIA control panel, updated drivers, confirmed the BIOS RAM speed was set correctly, adjusted power settings, and tried enabling game mode. The issue persists. I’m unsure if the power supply is providing sufficient wattage or if there’s another fix I should try.
How are your thermal readings? It seems like power output is being limited. I’d prefer a bit more headroom for energy supply. 700w.
Your CPU is reaching 30 degrees during a stress test—this indicates an issue. It’s far from typical performance levels. Have you reviewed the CPU load in stress situations?
Hello, I updated the stress test and swapped my power supply for a 700W unit. The results are back, and I’ve reopened the games I used to play. It still lags, but here’s the link: https://prnt.sc/21axmag
You continued testing with Task Manager and explored additional tools. Power consumption and clock speeds were also checked. Based on the stable performance during 3Dmark, a mismatched heatsink appears unlikely, though some limits remain. Your workloads stay under 30% utilization—typically CPU or GPU usage, not full capacity. You mentioned the i5 has six cores and twelve threads; Apex usually demands one to two cores at 100%. You noted seeing around 30% in Task Manager, which suggests you can switch to logical processors view. This issue seems consistent across different titles. You considered capping FPS at about 72 to see if extreme drops persist.
