I attempted it, verified every detail carefully, checked whether the older monitor behaved the same way, though the one with the HMDI port was different.

Which power source are we discussing? Just a quick note—3070s can be quite power-hungry, sometimes requiring more than 800 watts. Not every one of them reaches that level, but certain builders have pushed them even higher.
