Check the newest ASMedia 1064 expansion card drivers for W10/11, or try standard Microsoft drivers.
I recently acquired an expansion card to repurpose drives from a now-defunct system. Since all SATA slots were already filled, I opted for an ASMedia 1064 card. It appears to function properly with the standard Windows drivers that auto-install. However, when connecting more than two SATA devices (the card supports up to four), occasional random disconnections occur during heavy HDD transfers, such as moving hundreds of gigabytes. My question is whether there are the latest drivers available for this ASMedia 1064 card, or if it’s better to use only two devices at once. Any advice would be appreciated. The card I purchased on Amazon is an Ubit ExtensionCard PCIe 2 SATA6GB 4-port IPFS SA3014.
Consider using IOBit Driver Booster to verify for updates. Based on your description, overheating could be a factor—try directing a fan toward the card and see if it helps.
I was also considering it could be just overheating. The tiny heatsink, plus the intense GPU load I had to manage by chaining risers, probably forced the controller to sit close to the side panel. I’m thinking about adding a small fan later. Right now I leave the side panel open temporarily. The main question is whether anyone knows the latest version for this controller—and sorry, but I don’t use or trust any driver boosters, updates, or system cleaners; I prefer to search instead.
