You can bypass the VRAM restriction using Graphics or Advanced Graphics settings, though I wouldn't suggest doing so unless you're willing to accept slower performance.

The typical frames per second is around 54 fps using those configurations at 1600x1200 resolution. I’ll attempt to arrange them to check the performance.

It's the top choice in the graphics menu, which I turned on for my 780. It shows I'm using around 3300MB, but during gameplay it's actually around 2800–2950, which is close to my VRAM limits.

I'm using the GTX650 with a capped VRAM setting, and it runs smoothly at 60fps on lower difficulty. The VRAM cap helps, but it's not precise enough to reliably predict if the game will lag.
