Hey there, I've been testing my new PC and wondering how to get accurate benchmarks. I know screen recording tools exist and many games don’t have built-in FPS counters. Right now I’m using Fraps Benmark which saves min/max/avg data to a file. I’m not sure it’s functioning properly! For COD AW it displays my average at 105 and max at 418, but that seems off. GTA V’s tracking tool shows 45.50 FPS on Ultra while the file says 75. What should I use next? Thanks!

I just tried Steam Overlay and saw it works fine with my eyes. But I think you might be using it wrong. I’m okay with the idea that it could have been running smoothly when you started the game—menu delays are normal, especially with hundreds or thousands of FPS loading times. Also, TANKing FPS or boosting them too much can cause them to jump way higher than what you’re actually playing.

When recording, Fraps logs FPS; when just checking, it remains inactive.

I never relied on the in-game benchmark or created a chart in Excel.
