It's also possible to use OEM keys. I came across several computer cases discarded with keys on them, and they functioned properly.

I have my Win7 Ultimate CD key and could give it a shot. If it fails, I’ll stick with "Windows Not Activated" until I purchase a key thank you.

Amazon could be trustworthy or not, while eBay is usually legitimate more often than not. Newegg and similar hardware sellers tend to be genuine. Although authentic keys can cost a significant amount, you can anticipate prices starting around 50€ or higher.

Because there are different type of keys. Pro version is more expensive than Home. OEM key is cheaper than retail key. And then there are the grey market which people without moral use.
