Check the basics first for FPS problems in BO6.
Hey everyone, just set up a new forum account and started enjoying BO6 again. My PC feels a bit outdated lately and isn’t handling the game well. I’m planning to check it out after Thanksgiving break when I get back from school and maybe shop for some better components. Right now I can see my CPU, GPU, power supply, and RAM—CPU is AMD RYZEN 3 2200G, GPU is Radeon RX 570 (4GB), PSU is EVGA 600 B1, 80+ Bronze 600W, RAM is Patriot Viper DDR4 8GB. The main thing I’m worried about is FPS; even with low textures and a render resolution of 90-100, I only get around 35-50 FPS, which drops even more in intense fights. I’m thinking maybe lowering all settings, but it still doesn’t reach 55 or higher. Any advice would be super helpful! Thanks!
though one but I'd probably change the CPU first and add another 8gb (they're really cheap nowadays), then the PSU, and then the GPU. That way you are fully prepared for when you change the GPU. Now regarding which CPU and PSU to upgrade to for CPU it will depend on the objectives you have but a general good recommendation would be a 5600, 5600X or maybe you can get an aliexpress 5700x3d for ~150USD or if you have a tighter budget a 5500, it will depend in your budget, and for PSU any 750W from a reputable brand and from a good series will do, your PSU should be fine for most GPUs you are planning to upgrade later but I've heard 2 stories locally of the EVGA B1 dying or killing a 3060 If you just want to get better FPS quickly check the metrics while playing and see what is causing the bottleneck, is your ram full? is the GPU at 100% at all times? then you can upgrade the GPU, but if the GPU usage dips to the 95% 90% or even lower then you are CPU limited and you can change the CPU to get a bit more FPS or stability with your RX 570
I agree on the same thoughts about the memory upgrade—it’s a great value for my budget. With the 5700x3d, if I can snag it for around $150, it would be perfect. I wasn’t familiar with the EVGA B1 situation either, but I’ll remember that. Thanks! I’m going to follow your advice, and once I upgrade the CPU and RAM, I should be able to run smoother games. After that, I’ll tackle the rest.
I can share improved metrics when I next play, but I've observed often that during BO6 sessions I see my CPU hovering close to 100% while my GPU stays lower, especially when checking Task Manager. From experience with Call of Duty titles, it seems my CPU has been the main bottleneck. RAM is also typically at a high usage level.
