I noticed some feedback during the early access phase about the lack of native HDR in Starfield. While that’s accurate, I’ve been using Auto-HDR and it’s performed exceptionally well. There are a few instances where Auto-HDR struggles with dynamic range, but I haven’t encountered a completely perfect HDR master yet. For those upset about missing native support, I’d say the developers have optimized the game to work smoothly with Auto-HDR rather than relying on native features. On my system, this delivers an outstanding HDR experience.

The Auto HDR feature isn't resolving the high black levels issue. It's unclear why the game arrived in this condition.

I haven't seen any problems with the black levels being too bright. The indoor/outdoor shift feels odd, but overall it's been a significantly improved HDR experience compared to many other games.

It's possible your display lacks HDR support or has limited quality.

I own a Predator x35 with 1100 nits and over 500 dimming zones. It isn’t an OLED, but reviews and what I’ve read suggest it delivers solid HDR performance. Perhaps I’m missing some knowledge about black levels.
