working on a budget build for someone who can't afford a full setup. I haven't touched Intel since the Pentium 4 era, so I'm not familiar with top boards. Could you check this eBay listing and let me know about the motherboard quality? From what I understand, it seems like a basic chipset similar to AMD's AM4 A320 models. That should be enough for your friend who just wants stock settings and won't overclock.
The board fits your needs well. I can't confirm the state of the LGA pins since a CPU and heatsink are visible... seems like everything is okay. The B75 was a popular choice for 3rd Gen Intel CPUs. I've used one in an HTPC setup, though an ASUS model works too. It works fine for your intended purpose. However, Windows 10 has limited support left (around 1-2 years from October 2025), making it the best OS you can fit onto that hardware. I'm aiming for an 8th or 10th Gen Intel option in future builds using refurbished parts.

Any used motherboard you buy could potentially fail or cause problems. I wasn't saying the Gigabyte board was bad as it worked well for a long time. Just try and pick a trusted seller and I'm sure what ever you find friend will be more than happy with. FYI that stupid RGB PC is now running a i5 9400f and ASROCK H310 motherboard, gave up with the 3ed gen platform.
If you don’t intend to overclock, a high-end chipset isn’t strictly necessary. The ITE limits apply mainly to stock CPUs, so choosing a premium chipset doesn’t significantly impact performance unless you plan heavy overclocking.
No you don't. If you plan stock there is no need. Does mean you leave a decent chunk of performance on the table but so be it. If the budget doesn't allow it not much to do about it.
