Not exactly the case. The memory will work, that's for sure, however, whether it will achieve the advertised 3600MHz, that's a different story. This is why there are these QVLs otherwise the manufactures wouldn't be wasting time to test and validate that a particular memory kit works at specific frequency with set of timings. The thing to remember is that DOCP and XMP are considered overclocking, so no one really guarantees that the advertised speeds will be reached. This is the spec of the B550 Tomahawk board the OP is looking at Just FYI the Crucial kits are 99% using Micron memory chips. The G.Skill depends on the timings. There are two SKUs from what I can see. One has timings of 16-19-19-39 and probably uses SK Hynix for the memory chips. There is a different SKU with 16-16-16-36 timings, that is probably Samsung B-die. See in the QVL whether there are listings for other RAM kits using these memory chips with the same timings. This will be a pretty good indication whether it will work fine or you will need to do additional tinkering in the BIOS to get the memory running at 3600MHz
Exactly, I wasn't very precise until I noticed some details that matter. I realized certain RAMs might not perform at full speed, especially with the 3600 MHz requirement for XMP support. Purchasing RAM has become more challenging lately because high-frequency kits are now more affordable and widely available. That’s why I mentioned at the end that with Crucial kits you can be sure they’re using Micron memory chips. Since Crucial is a Micron brand, it’s unlikely they’d source from other manufacturers.
