Check RAM specifications for TUF X570 Plus compatibility.
Hello everyone, I'm planning to assemble a new PC using these parts: CPU R5 3600, motherboard TUF GAMING X570-PLUS, RAM G.Skill TridentZ RGB (speed not yet confirmed). I'm unsure about compatibility details. From the AMD site, the CPU should support 3200MHz memory, and ASUS says the X570 Plus can handle that. G.Skill offers several SKUs for TridentZ RGB with varying timings. I need to find the best match for my setup and check if a 3600MHz RAM is possible. What's the optimal SKU for this configuration?
This document details the AM4 socket and memory specifications for the TUF Gaming X570 Plus processor, specifically the third generation AMD Ryzen models.
Focus on the IMC value instead of QVL or RAM speed. The key is the IC selection. For Zen 2, consider a 3200/CL16 or 3600/CL16 package. Be aware that 16-16-16 configurations are more likely to fail, but lower-end ICs can still work.
Are you certain about the TridentZ RGB? You should probably find a standard 3600 CL16 unit at the same cost as a 3600 CL18 model thanks to the advanced heatspreader. Still, the optimal setting for Zen 2 is around 3600MHz—look for that. CL16 works well, but CL17/18 are also acceptable.
I’m choosing TridentZ RGB for this build since it fits the project, and the Tridentz Neo version is an alternative. The main differences are that the Neo version tends to be white, while RGB offers more color options beyond just white.
It turns out the Cl16 3600 isn't within my budget. I'll likely go for the Cl16 3200 instead. Probably, I'll also learn how to overclock it if needed.
