I’m considering purchasing an x570 motherboard because I prefer the 3950x model and need PCIe 4.0 support. However, I’ve heard mixed opinions about Intel’s 2021 and 2022 models—some say they offer DDR5 while others claim PCIe 5.0 is still emerging. People worry that sticking to PCIe 4.0 might make the system feel outdated since upgrades from PCIe 3.0 have been slow. It seems unlikely we’ll see widespread adoption of PCIe 5.0 in 2021 or 2022, which could lead to compatibility issues for many years.

It's surprising they still have a z490 model available in 2021. Only version 4.0 is supported. We haven't adopted 3.0 yet on GPUs. For most users, 4.0 isn't very useful. PCIe 2.0 works just fine for a 2080ti. As for upcoming features, AMD will release AM5 next year, marking the end of AM4 (likely). That could be something to look forward to. Remember, even with PCIe 4.0, a 2600k with PCIe 2.0 and DDR3 still performs well because of the PCIe upgrade.
