Check out the compatible motherboard and CPU cooler for the I7-14700K.
I’m planning to assemble a new all-white PC without much experience with parts. I have the current setup: an i7-10700F CPU, a 3060 GPU, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and a Thermaltake S100 case. I want to upgrade to an i7-14700K CPU, a 4070 Super GPU, and a Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB RAM. The case will be an MSI MAG PANO M100R PZ. I’m considering the DeepCool AK620 cooler. For the motherboard, I’m unsure which model to choose—should I go with B560 or something else? Thanks for any advice on selecting the right board and cooler.
Based on your budget and the i7-14700K, consider Z790 to tap its overclock capability at 250W. It won’t boost gaming performance dramatically, but it offers a solid upgrade. For regular gaming, the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master/Elite X Asrock Phantom Gaming Z790 ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-Pro DeepCool AK620 works well, while for higher overclock goals above 150W, a 360mm AIO is recommended.
If you're avoiding water cooling, a 14700K chip will likely cause issues. This processor demands a 360mm+ AIO to prevent overheating. Without a substantial AIO, it won't offer much performance gain compared to a 13700K (for multithreaded tasks) or 7800X3D (for gaming), though the latter is still preferable. What are you planning to use this for? For a white motherboard, the Z790 Aorus Pro X seems ideal, but the Z790 Aorus Elite AX Ice could work if it's much cheaper—though it's not as strong. The Z690 Force is another solid choice if you're open to updating the BIOS and finding good deals, though recent sales have dwindled. Of course, these suggestions assume you're sticking with Intel. An AMD setup might still be the better option.
I’m just doing some normal gaming or streaming, but for now I’ll upgrade my case, motherboard, CPU, keep my GPU, PSU at 750W, and RAM. Also, a quick question about AIOs—do you need to add coolant or just install fans and secure it?
Choose a 7800X3D for that application—it offers better performance compared to the 14700K at a similar cost. It runs faster in games, handles heat more efficiently, and uses less power. Most AIOs are fully sealed, making it impossible to add or remove coolant without damaging them. Just install and mount the fans.
I think I'll keep the 14600k. It’ll save me $110 in Australia, and it’s compatible with editing. Do you know any white or mostly white motherboards that work with 14th Gen Intel, support DDR5 at 6000MHz, and also have a MATX build?
