Hey everyone. I’m currently using an older Linksys router that’s having connection issues and isn’t working well anymore. I’m thinking about buying a new one under $250. The speeds are 250 down and 12 up. My home spans three floors and covers about 1300 square feet. The router and modem are on the third floor, which is hard to change right now. There are 20 devices total—11 wireless and 9 wired. The wired ones are plugged into a switch next to the router, and cat5e cables run around the house to connect consoles and desktops. I need something strong enough for all the devices and dependable.
With 1300 square feet and 20 units, you have plenty of options to suit your needs. The TP Ac1200 costs around $40 and is a solid choice.
You could purchase a 3-pack of Google Wi-Fi and place them wherever required. Link them together to form a mesh network or utilize any additional cabling you have. Alternatively, you might opt for a few Ubiquiti Unifi APs and simply rely on the controller running on a computer.
