Hi there, I have a Toshiba Portege Z930 that shows an amber light on the battery. It looks like the power cord is flashing too. The pattern goes 1 short, then 2 long, followed by 3 short, and finally 1 long and 1 short. I tried using a different power source but got the same problem. I searched for flash codes everywhere and can't find any. After replacing the keyboard and checking all connections, they look okay. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, John
Did you change the battery after buying the laptop? If no, then sure, that is what you should do. But if it already was changed, maybe you ought to look around at all the places where electricity comes in and see if there are any scorch marks or broken parts.
Hey, I guess that's the old battery. I'm getting a new one today and will tell you about it later. My check on electricity didn't show any burnt parts or holes. Thanks, John
Hi, I changed the battery but didn't plug in the charger and got the same error code. This started after I fixed the keyboard, which had a broken slider lock that moved back and forth like a little zipper. When I connected everything and turned it on, it went straight into BIOS to change the date and time, then shut down right away. That was when the flash light came on. After I swapped out the motherboard from eBay, the error code still shows up. I'm trying to put back in the original board but don't know how to fix that broken zipper lock without snapping it off too much. I have no idea what else to try now. Thanks, John
Hi, I changed the battery and didn't plug in the charger yet. The error light is still there. This started after I swapped out the keyboard. A little lock slider that fits into and out of its way broke. I tried to connect the keyboard while it was on. It went straight to the BIOS screen, then off right away. That's when the flash code appeared. I put in a new board from eBay and the error light is still there. Can't install the old board because I don't know how to replace that broken slider lock on the new one without breaking it too. I don't know what steps to take now. Thanks, John
Hello, I've swapped out my battery and AC adapter. Also changed another motherboard. The screen is showing a yellow flash code: one short pulse, then one long pulse, two short pulses, then one more single pulse. I'm going to buy a DC jack so this might get fixed. I checked every connection and made sure they were tight. Thanks, John
Hi, I changed out the motherboard, battery, power cord, DC port, and got the same error codes back. The lights stay on when plugged in but show an amber flash pattern instead of just a steady glow like it's low on power. When I took the battery out and used only the charger, the code stayed the same too. I'm not sure if bad memory is causing this since I'm swapping my RAM today. I think something wrong with the motherboard though. Any advice? Thanks John
