Yes, it can run.
Fun? Probably not.
Your graphics card should handle games well, but the CPU isn’t up to VR standards. You might need a completely different GPU for virtual reality, and even then you’d likely have to replace the memory.

It's really confusing for me since both the Oculus compatibility checker and Steam VR One claim everything will work.

It's best to give it a shot right away. You'll definitely spend money on a VR headset, so keep in mind you might also need a new CPU. An i7 3770 is more than capable of handling it.

No damage caused while testing, the i7 3770 should cost about £60 or around $77. It seems reasonable and budget-friendly, so worth giving it a go.
