Hello everyone! I added the RAM kit Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 32 GB (2x16) version 4.34 to my system. On the internet I discovered a matching model but with version 3.31. I heard that mismatched versions might cause XMP problems and could even lead to system failure. Is this accurate or can I still install the updated version? Any advice would be appreciated!

share the burner screenshot per Corsair site 3.xx guidelines. Micron models are 3.xx while 4.xx refer to Samsung. IC revisions impact compatibility and performance. The 3.31 kit seems to be a Micron revision, whereas your 4.34 kit would likely use a Samsung C die. If your kit is a Samsung die, results might not match the 3.31 version. Overclocking could be challenging without matching timings per channel and XMP support, especially at lower speeds like 3200. I recommend reaching out to @RONOTHAN for more insights on these newer platforms.

I recall from the article I read earlier that XMP versions vary across releases, which can lead to problems when XMP is activated. Using RAMMON, it lists "Samsung" as the DRAM maker, but why would that be considered bad?

Revisions are limited to around 3600, but the Samsung D Die version is closer to 4600 or higher when testing at 1.4V and primaries set to 19-26-26-26 with a 3800 auto frequency; everything else works automatically, except for those poor settings where the device should still function but can’t post.

Checked the primary frequency to 3800 and VDimm at 1.4x should start up if the main board is compatible. What CPU model and motherboard are you using?

I won’t increase the RAM or any other components. Just adding more memory will help my software run better. The 3200 XMP setting from the standard is sufficient for me. For the hardware, I have a Ryzen 9 5900X with PBO enabled and a Gigabyte B450M DS3H. To avoid complications, I’d appreciate someone who knows if different versions can work together or if I need to stick with the one already installed.

oc capabilities offer a solid idea of how alike the rams are; greater similarity means higher odds of success with XMP or manual overclock. If the chipset tends to be confused with another model by the manufacturer, the best way to confirm is to check its OC specs on a heatspreader RAM—only then can you see if it reaches 3800. Otherwise, testing it directly is the only sure method. It seems 4.34 could be problematic, though online sources suggest 4.31 might still work. For certainty, opt for bare PCBs from OEM suppliers that match your existing ICs; they should function properly with your current components since they share identical specifications. Binning doesn’t matter much here.

Yes, it's likely that a version 4.1 kit would function better with your system compared to a version 3.31, while being less suitable for version 4.34.

since they’re both Samsung and Qualcomm revision models from the same maker, they tend to work together, though XMP support isn’t assured because it depends on the device’s ICS features. There’s no need to worry about compatibility issues—just don’t post anything else
