ProtonDB provides details about supported platforms, though WineHQ sometimes shows mixed information. Unlike ProtonDB, WineHQ doesn't consistently list available apps per platform.

Initially, locating all installed apps is straightforward, but finding compatible alternatives or fixes for Linux support can be challenging. During the switch, I compiled a list of essential programs I’ll need regularly, like Microsoft Teams for school—greatly supported on Linux. For development tools, I prioritized those with better Linux compatibility over Windows options. Non-essential apps were noted for potential replacement, mainly built-in Windows utilities that are easy to swap. For checking hardware suitability for Linux, the site https://linux-hardware.org/ is a reliable resource.

Truly, the top choices beyond gaming are: search for the program name along with Linux. Or simply ask for help. We all here can definitely guide you correctly. Regarding gaming, someone already talked about protondb and also mentioned lutris.net for non-steam titles.
