Hello. My setup is finally complete and I received a post code 53, but no usable memory detected. After some investigation, it seems the RAM isn't compatible with my motherboard, Evga Z370, and the G Skill Ripjaws v RAM. I'm searching for a compatible memory but Evga only lists quad channel configurations. I found an option I can purchase right now and would appreciate a review to confirm compatibility. Corsair Venue RGB Pro, model number: cmw 16gx 4m2 c3000 c15, no spaces added for clarity.
That term "quad channe" doesn't actually exist. You're just attaching a DIMM to each channel—it's more of a marketing idea. From a hardware standpoint, just pick another kit for testing and check the results. It's not common for Ripjaws to fail this way. Have you installed a BIOS update?
Have you attempted to install only one stick and repeat the process in every slot? Next, try using the same stick in each slot once more, then switch to another stick. Verify whether your board allows updating the BIOS for a CPU upgrade. Many premium boards include this capability.
The diagnostic LEDs that light up during the hang are quite rare when memory isn't functioning on the Z370. The DIMM slots you used were 2 and 4 for a dual-DIMM configuration, or 2 for a single DIMM.
I initially used slots 2 and 4. Someone mentioned that RAM only functions in slot 2, so I experimented with a single-channel setup in slot 2 and then moved to slot 4.
For fun and laughter, start with one stick in the top position, try it, then move to the next, testing again and again. Repeat the same process with the other stick. There might be some unrelated activity happening too. Also look beneath your CPU for any bent pins.
