I assembled my latest system using a 5950X and an ASUS C8DH X570 MB at the end of last year. The cooling setup included a custom loop, with water cooling applied to both the CPU and the 3090. All fans and temperatures were tracked and managed by an Aquacomputer Octo. After building the PC, I began noticing some issues. The first concern was that my Aquacomputer Octo occasionally missed temperature and power usage readings when accessed via internal USB. A coolant temperature probe linked to the MB helped, but the fan speed curve programmed from water temperature would sometimes fail to capture data accurately (such as water, CPU, or GPU temps). At first, I suspected a loose USB connection because the Aquacomputer’s port only loosely connects to a 9-pin USB2.0 header on the motherboard. I replaced the cable and tightened it, but the problem persisted. The second issue involved my Creative SoundBlaster G6 external sound card connecting through USB; it would sometimes fail to appear and required unplugging and plugging back in for recognition. This worked fine with my older Intel PC. These challenges continued despite updating Windows 10 to Windows 11 and applying the latest BIOS from ASUS. It wasn’t until I read about similar X570 USB complications on a tech forum that I suspected these problems might be the underlying cause.
