I purchased this machine about a month ago, and a friend gifted me an older monitor. My graphics card only has one HDMI and three DisplayPorts, while the monitor I received connects solely via VGA. My motherboard includes a VGA port, but I’m unsure if it will work. My motherboard is an MSI Tomahawk Max, and my GPU is a GTX 1660 PS. The main monitor is linked to the GPU through HDMI.
It shouldn’t damage anything, but you likely won’t see any output because the GPU is already set up. The result also varies based on your CPU type, as not all have built-in graphics.
Do you have a CPU with a G at the end or a Ryzen model that ends with a G? If yes, you can enable built-in graphics in the BIOS (since it's usually off without a separate GPU). If not, unfortunately you won't be able to use integrated graphics by default. You can still connect a DisplayPort or HDMI to VGA adapter, and if your GPU uses DVI, you can get an adapter for that as well—just make sure it's an active one.
