Hello everyone! I have an RX580 as my graphics card, and a ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming motherboard in my build. ( Here is the list if need be: The Purple Phantom by TrinityTracer - AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 580, Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower - PCPartPicker ) I have had this build for a little over two years now, added some monitors and extra storage, I mainly use this set up for editing wedding videos and photos. I have re applied thermal paste to my GPU due to heat, but otherwise no maintenance has been needed. Until now. Unfortunately, I arrived home to a computer unwilling to show display. The VGA (white light) is solid on the MB. It begins it's initial boot, the fans and RGB come to life, and I can hear the windows chime through my speakers when it reaches the login screen for windows. However, there is no display. The GPU fans do not spin on start. I have reseated the GPU, tried the second slot, removed it completely and the VGA white light still remains solid. I do not believe this is a MB issue considering windows boots successfully and communicates to the peripherals, however I am afraid to jump to conclusions. I want to move as quick as possible with this issue, as previously stated, I have wedding films that need to be completed in which I can only access and edit through my PC. I am perfectly fine with ordering another GPU, however, I don't want to do so without being sure that is the key issue. Thanks in advanced.
I see it as primarily a GPU concern. The most reliable way to verify is to run it on another machine. Alternatively, ask someone else to lend you a card so you can test it on your own PC. Based on what you've tried, I assume you're familiar enough with the setup to connect the display cable directly to the GPU, not the motherboard.
Are there alternative video outputs available? My VGA indicator has appeared occasionally even though everything functions properly. I'm checking to rule out a port, cable, or monitor problem before assuming the GPU is dead. The fact it starts Windows without a video signal indicates it's not a POST failure, and I think a completely failed GPU would behave that way.
