I previously watched a video where Linus tested a Lenovo Y50 4K model. He noted that lowering game settings to 1080P can cause noticeable black borders and make the window appear smaller. Has this issue been resolved? If so, what would the experience be like playing at 1080p on a 4K screen? Is it beneficial for programmers or should you stick with the standard 1080p version? Also, the GPU included is a GTX 960m and the system features an Intel i7 6700HQ with 16GB RAM. Is this investment worthwhile?

Using 1080p on a 4K display isn't very impressive. My monitor is 4K, but switching to 1080p always makes it appear blurry and without much clarity, no matter how the quality settings are adjusted. It's better to keep the 1080p option for a sharper experience.

You should be able to modify the scaling settings however you want in the NVIDIA control panel to control whether you have a black border or not.

This level of blurriness would likely be easily noticeable on a 4K monitor, especially with its larger size.

Your 28-inch display works fine on the laptop, though performance might feel limited at higher resolutions. The GTX 960M isn’t suited for such demands.
