I've been looking to reduce the physical size of my PC over time. Right now I'm using this model: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/RMq2sL. I'm thinking about fitting everything into a "lian li o11 dynamic evo black" case. Will that fit the required space for my large GPU and CPU cooler? I don't mind leaving the DVD drive outside.
The picker generally confirms most components. It often overlooks ram space and CPU cooler gaps—though the latter is close (163 vs 167) and acceptable. The DVD drive will need replacement since there are no 5.25" bays. Keep in mind this remains a bulky unit; what changed from your previous setup makes it smaller?
You might cut costs by saving £30 to £50 and reduce size with a more affordable case such as the "Fractal Design Focus G ATX Mid Tower Case" priced at £55. Pair it with a new compact CPU cooler, which should fit your existing unit.
This situation seems quite inexpensive when compared to the O11 model. I recommend considering the Fractal Torrent Compact: https://www.fractal-design.com/products/...ight-tint/ and https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/VVXJ...c-tor1c-02
It's a significant drop in construction quality. You can go down from a Lexus IS300 to a basic Toyota Corolla if you're only taking four people, but would that really be worth it if you can afford the latter? If you're looking for something more practical, check out Fractal North and Torrent (a balanced pick between extreme focus and a smoother ride), Phanteks Eclipse P300A Mesh, Bequiet Pure Base 500DX, Hyte Y40, and NZXT H5. Higher-end options like 4000D and 5000D are available in that range but they're definitely top-tier builds. On the O11 series, the O11 Air Mini is an option too, though it has tight clearance with the NH-D15.
Thank you all for the feedback. I'll review the ratings and tutorials over the coming days.
