You ordered an Asus Tuf Gaming B450M Plus II motherboard. The specs show it supports USB-C at 3.2 Gbps. Many portable monitors rely on USB-C for both power and video input. It seems likely you can connect a display using this port, but confirm compatibility with your specific monitor model.

This applies only to data sources. Without a G-series processor such as a 3200G or 5600X, the output won’t appear on HDMI or DVI connections.

They probably would have been showing off if it were possible. I also have a 5600g coming soon. Appreciate your assistance.

USB-C video is uncommon on desktops since it demands linking the GPU to the port. Desktop motherboards typically don’t include a dedicated GPU, unlike phones and laptops which often come with a specific one. Only premium models usually offer this feature, needing a separate graphics card connected via a video input port. Another option is using a graphics card that ships with USB-C.

I understand... Thanks for the details. It seems most folks prefer keeping their desktop setup fixed. I was thinking of using a portable monitor while traveling by car to carry my budget gaming rig. Most monitors aren’t easy to pack, so I checked out portable options. There are HDMI models, but they still need a power cable. That’s okay.

Did you check for video capture cards? You might be able to capture your HDMI output and send it to USB C. If someone has shared a similar solution, I’d love to hear about it since I’m facing the same issue too.
