I've successfully increased my i7 8700k to 4.8 GHz without adjusting the voltage, which were set to auto by default. After running stress tests with aida64, cinebench, and 3d mark, everything appears stable (no crashes, throttling, reasonable temperatures, etc.). However, the CPU voltage can occasionally rise to about 1.392 V. I understand this is likely fine, but I'm worried about using more power than necessary and increasing energy use. Also, during light tasks like opening several chrome tabs, my CPU temperature can briefly reach 50-60°C, causing the fans to speed up temporarily. The noise is mildly bothersome, particularly while browsing the web.
Are these temperature and voltage changes typical when overclocking on auto voltage? Should I adjust my voltage settings? Or are the temperatures a sign of a cooling issue? This is my first overclock attempt, so I'm uncertain about what to expect.
