So i think the title says it all but i will get into more details
i got a 5 yrs old rig consisting of
i9 9900k
Cryorig Ultimate Air Cooler
Aorus Ultra Z390 MOBO
x2 16GB Crucial Ballistix RGB 3200 MHZ RAM
RTX 3080 AORUS MASTER
Seasonic FOCUS PLUS 80 GOLD Certified (old Version from 2020)
H500M Cooler Master CASE
I mainly game on 2k and I like to play Single Player games with highest settings with stable 60fps - 90fps
Looking at what I got when I bought both the case and the PSU I was looking at Future proofing and I can say I succeeded in doing so as I don't need to either get a new case to house anything new and for the PSU I may be able to push it 3 more yrs or so until i require to change if i get a new GPU or CPU / MOBO
Before I got this Rig with this beast GPU I owned a GTX 970 back then and ofc from that to 3080 it was a massive insane leap that I enjoyed these 5 yrs
My plan now was to wait for the 60series to come and then Upgrade to a 6080 to feel the same massive leap specially judging by the underwhelming generational leap of the 50 series
And

I would upgrade my CPU/MOBO/RAM now to smt like Ryzen7 9800x3d socketed in a MSI X870e MAG Carbon WIFI with a LEXAR ARES 6800mhz
THE QUESTION NOW:-
Judging by the current situation of ram shortage and its effects of GPU prices and stock PLUS Nvidia recent decisions of cutting production and focusing on AI data Centers
I would assume this situation is not going to become any better soon not even in 2 yrs from now and waiting for 60 series and not trying to snatch a 5080 right now would be a losing situation and this is what i did>>>>>>>>>>>>>I managed to find a buyer for my RTX 3080 for 20k EGP (I live in EGYPT) which is basically 400USD and i bought a MSI VANGUARD RTX 5080 for 82k EGP which is basically 1700usd
So was this a good deal and the right decision to grab a GPU now before it gets worse or i wasted my money and my 3080 would have lasted more years and i would have been able to get my hands in a 6080 easily with a rational price in 2 yrs from now??
Or Should i reverse everything and return the 5080 and stick plan A in Upgrading my CPU / MOBO / RAM and keep my 3080 paired with them for good ?
PS: if u will point out that i will have a heavy bottleneck with this CPU paired with my 5080 i know that sadly and plan to upgrade ASAP when i have enough money before the ram prices HIke even more

5070TIs are already becoming more popular. I recently purchased an ASUS Prime 5070TI three weeks ago for $830. It has now risen to about $1,050. I had to return it because my 3090 was still working, but upon seeing it at MicroCenter, I quickly bought one of their MSI Shadow 5070TIs for the same price before it was marked up. If my 3090 fails, I could either use the board (which is PCI5.0 compatible) or sell it later to make some money.
