I'm updating just the drives, leaving everything else intact. Should I run a clean install? Some people say it doesn't really matter. I'm a bit anxious since I've never done this before. When I first built my PC, I used a boot drive, but I don't want to do that unless it's absolutely necessary.
The situation varies. Switching from an AMD CPU to an Intel CPU requires a complete reinstall or "refreshed install." Upgrading from one Intel CPU to another works without issues. Just remove the old GPU drivers with DDU and install the new ones for the updated GPU.
It's wise to do this regularly, especially when purchasing numerous components. The optimal approach is to prepare the entire storage device and set up a brand-new Windows installation via a USB drive.
Essentially the same thing. Switching between AMD and Intel CPUs works just fine, but changing between them requires a clean install. For GPUs, if moving from AMD to Nvidia or vice versa, you should uninstall existing drivers—this caused problems last year.
