I attempted to upgrade my Windows 10 from version 21H1 to 22H2 using an ISO file obtained from the official Microsoft website, which was installed via PowerISO. After launching setup.exe, everything proceeded as expected until the installation finished and displayed a message stating "it will automatically reboot my PC." However, instead of rebooting, it showed "Windows 10 installation has failed" in a similar box.

I have previously used tools like System File Checker, DISM, performed a clean boot, disabled Windows Defender (without any third-party antivirus), switched to an admin account, and even created a new user account. The new account would only appear in safe mode, and login attempts there resulted in a black screen with flickering taskbar. Recently, creating a new user triggered the same error.

Additionally, I encountered issues with disappearing user accounts. I also tried updating Windows using settings and the Windows 10 update assistant, which consistently returned error code 0x8007001f.

I executed various administrative commands in CMD, such as stopping services (wuauserv, cryptSvc, bits, msiserver), renaming system files, and running cleanup and repair scripts. After these steps, I ran several diagnostic tools including chkdsk, sc config, and DISM commands to verify system health.

I also performed system repairs with commands like regsvr32.exe for multiple DLLs, and executed a comprehensive system scan and repair process.

You cannot proceed because mounting the iso causes it to vanish upon restart, preventing the install from continuing. You need to "burn" the iso onto a USB drive so the files remain accessible after the reboot. The media tool performs this action.

I found the answer on the Microsoft forum. It worked perfectly without losing any files or apps.
