I wanted to refresh this thread. I chose to purchase a two dollar win 10 pro CD key just in case. I changed the key and removed the WindowsUpdate/AU key I created in regedit. It updated everything from 1607 but couldn’t find 1709(?) after some searching. After many attempts and hours of research, I found a helpful thread. The Win 10 Update Assistant didn’t work and kept failing after about 30 minutes (around 80% success). I downloaded the Win 10 ISO and updated from there, but it still crashed at startup. It felt like a hardware upgrade—like moving from Voodoo 2 to Voodoo 5! If I hadn’t found this info, I wouldn’t have bothered. Thanks again!
