This applies only when frames drop under 60 within the 1% range; otherwise, the smoothness may appear excellent or unnoticeable.

Outside other titles I maintain 80-120fps which made the performance drops more noticeable. I discovered my 5950X had issues later on, but it's unclear if that contributed to the problems, since it didn't crash during gameplay—only when idle then eventually stopped working completely. Starfield was especially upsetting because it ran mostly at 60 frames, making the areas with poor performance obvious. At that time I was using the DLSS workaround, and I think improvements have been made thanks to updates and official support. I haven't played since those patches because updating all the quality-of-life mods is a hassle. To be honest, the 7800X3D is delivering the most seamless gaming experience I've experienced so far. I don’t even bother updating the BIOS anymore—it just works perfectly.

It might have been different when Starfield wasn't as refined as it is today. Speaking in lower than 60 fps, the typical frame rate could reach up to 400 fps, but if it drops below 60, the instability becomes noticeable

They attempted it, but because the original stated he’d play in 1440p and 4K instead of 1080p, I omitted that part.

It's noticeable that the average performance drops from 112 to 181 at 1080p, though it narrows when looking at 1440p. If I'm planning a full upgrade now, I might go ahead and send the AM4 rig with the 3070ti to my sister—it really needs a boost.

Great choice overall. We can also project the 1440p performance using similar chip analyses.

AM5 is the best option then! Thanks for sharing this with your sister—both get upgraded. Need advice on a motherboard or RAM? Just tag us and we’ll assist you.
