Hi everyone,
Welcome back as a long-time reader or new follower. Sorry if this subject has been discussed before.
I’m just finishing up my very first custom loop. I’ve always liked custom loops but never tackled one until now.
Here’s a quick rundown of my system:
- Case: Phanteks pEvolv ATX
- Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula
- CPU: i7 4790k (not overclocked yet)
- Graphics card: Asus Strix 1080
- Radiator: EK CoolStream PE 360 40mm with three 120mm Corsair SP120 fans
- CPU waterblock: EK Supremecy Eco
- Res/Pump combo: EK Xres Revo D5

I currently have my 360 rad mounted on top of the case, with the fans directing airflow. My goal is to cool both the CPU and motherboard, since the Formula VII comes with a factory waterblock, but I plan to add my GTX 1080 into the loop once I can afford a dedicated GPU block.
If you have any thoughts, feel free to share—no pressure at all.

A few quick questions:
- According to AI Suite 3, my CPU idle temperature is about 30°C, sometimes reaching 35°C. I’ve also read that Prime95 isn’t the best tool for measuring load temps on i7 chips, but I did it and got temps around 60–65°C. The room temperature is roughly 23–26°C.
- Will the 360 rad be enough to keep my GTX 1080 cool once integrated? Should I consider a larger radiator?
- Any general advice would be appreciated, even if unrelated to these specs.

Thanks in advance.

Great job overall.
The 360 Rad model should accommodate a GPU, though you might notice slightly increased temperatures. Adding a GPU will raise the heat, but it shouldn't be a problem. Including another rad could help manage those higher temperatures.

The idle temperatures are within expected ranges for your environment, and the P95 load temperatures also appear satisfactory.

I just opened hwinfo and noticed a big contrast with AI Suite readings. Hwinfo displayed CPU temperatures at 90 degrees, while AI Suite showed 60-65! I stopped Prime95 right away. Which one is the real temperature? Should it be AI Suite or hwinfo?
