Hello there, I just installed the MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS motherboard into my PC with a Ryzen 9 3900x. Since I use Arch Linux, I placed the first GPU (RX 580) in the first PCIe slot and the second GPU (RTX 2070s) in the second slot. Both GPUs are functioning properly in the first slot, but neither works in the second. I tried updating the BIOS in the hope it would fix the issue, but it didn’t. My question is: is the second PCIe slot faulty or just disabled in the BIOS? If so, I’d like to replace it with a new one. Anyone had similar experiences? Thanks a lot! veerteex

It seems there might be an issue with the system. It should start up normally without any special settings. You could try switching it to PCIE Gen 3 mode instead of the automatic setting to check if that resolves the problem.

I thought I’d mention that as well—the second option might be from a chipset and could be Gen 3. Are B550 slots really Gen 3?

Maybe you have a drive in the lower M.2 port? If yes, it turned off the bottom PCIE slot. That's the M.2 slot right beneath the bottom PCIE slot.

I faced the same issue, upgraded from 1650 to 3060 with 12gb, chose to retain both drives, and also have a 2m SSD. Switching the cards works well. I’m considering a PCIe adapter for the M.2 SSD in the small PCIe slot at the bottom.
