I just purchased GTA V this afternoon and noticed I received a clean retail copy, so I saved it to SteamApps/Common. But when I tried to check it (as the Windows window shows "Discovering existing files on GTAV"), Steam automatically removed that folder once verification was done. Someone suggested I follow their steps to properly verify a retail version for Steam. I’ve already activated the key, and some users say they should use Steam afterward. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the details of what you're asking. Could you clarify your question? Did you mean to ask about a product that requires a Steam key?

Place the non-stream game at the top, then choose the folder.

I already saved it before the 14th of April. It’s a clean version, similar to what you’d find at RSC after downloading on Steam. The folder just lacks some Steam API files and the DirectX folder, but everything remains intact. It isn’t exactly a non-steam title.

You already owned GTA V prior to its release, purchased it via Steam this afternoon, attempted to check the earlier build which was removed, and then went ahead with the latest version.

I get it now. There’s no way around it. You’re the best. Just go ahead and download it.

It seems like you're describing a frustrating experience with downloading something. You mentioned it took three days and had issues with signing. Let me know how I can help!
