I recently relocated to a situation where Ethernet wasn't the best choice anymore. I purchased an AX3000 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapter and installed it into a PCIe slot on my motherboard (see parts list below). Initially, I managed to view both monitors, but the internet connection would drop. I frequently encountered the message "Couldn't connect to this network" when attempting to connect via settings. Currently, I have an Ethernet powerline adapter for writing this article, though the speeds are around 10mbps—far too slow for my needs. After installing the drivers from a Reddit post, internet speeds improved to 190mbps. Interestingly, before installing the drivers, removing the HDMI cable connected to my second monitor increased my internet speed, and once the cable was plugged back in, the display would either switch to black or show its intended content.
Regarding my monitor configuration, I use a 2016 Dell 27-inch display in portrait mode with a VGA cable to an HDMI adapter before connecting it to my ASUS RTX 2060 GPU. Additionally, the Wi-Fi adapter’s manual states that the included cable is only for powering Bluetooth features. Since I don’t have any unused USB ports on my motherboard and already possess a USB 3.0 Bluetooth adapter, I assumed I wouldn’t need to connect the included cable.
After updating the drivers for both the GPU and Wi-Fi adapter, internet speeds remained stable. However, connecting the second monitor often caused frequent black screen interruptions, rendering it nearly unusable. My current hypothesis is that the adapter might require more power, or perhaps I should connect via a USB port instead. Another concern is that my HDMI to VGA adapter could be damaging the system overall. Any advice or suggestions would be highly valued.
I connected the provided cable into a JUSB2 port on my motherboard. After installing the Intel driver and support assistant, the Bluetooth feature became visible, and the functionality worked correctly once drivers were installed. Regarding your GPU drivers, did you use DDU to uninstall all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, followed by manually installing the newest driver from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command?

The adapter is the TP-Link AX3000. The drivers I utilized come from the following source:

The monitors in use are the LG 29WP60G-B UltraWide Monitor 29" combined with the Dell SE2216HV monitor (the one that becomes black). I didn't employ DDU to eliminate all GPU drivers; instead, I downloaded the newest from Nvidia and used the express install.
I've been employing one of those adapters for several years without any issues. During installation, did you link the USB cable to a USB 2 port on your motherboard? That might be influencing the adapter's power consumption. Additionally, the device includes an Intel AX210 chip, so it's recommended to use only the most recent drivers from the official Intel website, not any third-party sources. The Bluetooth feature of the adapter is now visible, and after installing the drivers, it works correctly. However, my second monitor (Dell) occasionally shuts off and then restarts displaying an image. According to the Intel driver and support assistant, the AX3000 is functioning properly.
My internet speeds remain consistent with what I expected. When booting up my PC, I noticed a USB disconnect sound similar to removing a USB drive from your computer, which causes the second monitor to go black for a brief moment before returning to display. This happens occasionally, not every time, but it occurred during my first few hours on the PC. I’m planning to stay on the PC for the next few hours to see if the issue worsens or improves. I’m still not fully confident the problem is resolved since it happened right after logging in.
Update: Even after applying the fixes, I keep experiencing black screens. Also, when using Ethernet, my display works fine, so it might be related to the AX3000 via a PCie slot. My GPU has been overclocked using MSI Afterburner, and I’m wondering if the increased power limit is causing the issue. I’m not sure yet.
Final update: Upon closer inspection of my Wi-Fi adapter, I found it wasn’t fully seated—smaller PCIe slots lack a lock mechanism. When I forced it into my case, it slightly pulled out, likely causing a faulty connection. The black screen no longer appears, and speeds are stable now. That’s quite a strange reason to have gone through all this...
