Your setup looks capable of hitting a steady 30 fps. With the components you listed, you should be in a good position for consistent performance.

It seems the system isn't that strong compared to a desktop 960, so I'll suggest playing at medium settings with nice effects. Anything higher might be too much.

It could slow down your CPU performance. Witcher 3 causes a bottleneck on my GTX 1070 when paired with an i5 4690k that’s been boosted to 4.6ghz. Your laptop will likely face a significant limitation.

You're suggesting I might get neck strain if I push the volume to maximum, but you're wondering if reducing other demands like background characters and keeping sweetFX enabled would change that outcome.

The top choice is to install MSI Afterburner, enable OSD, adjust screen display settings, and track GPU and CPU usage through it. Then test in-game to discover the optimal configurations for your desired gameplay experience.

He’ll probably hit a GPU limitation well before his CPU catches up, because the 960M offers similar speed to a 750Ti while the 6700HQ has four full cores. You might need to lower settings and maybe disable audio to hit around 30 frames per second, though it’s doable. Your GPU is roughly half the power of yours and drops to 20fps in the lowest options.

This CPU limitation is just exaggerated fear. The GPU is where real performance issues arise. You can play Witcher 3 at 960, but not at full settings. Even on medium it still outperforms other options.

The 960m of my Dell XPS 15 supports The Witcher 3 in 1080p medium with 45-50 frames per second.

Sure, just 30 frames per second or reduce the speed for more frames.
