don't understand if this build works yet, but i need these components specifically. i'm unsure about the ram quality, case type, or psu choice. any advice would be really helpful. i play cs2 and wow occasionally. just want to know the right specs for ram, case, psu, and maybe extra fans. thanks a lot!
1) That motherboard doesn't support DDR4.
2) I wouldn't bother with an NVME drive on that old motherboard because it wouldn't utilize its speed, and I doubt it would even function properly. A standard SATA 2.5" drive would be better.
3) You're asking why you're specifically interested in the 4790K?

The CPU pairs well with the motherboard, but most other components fall short or are underutilized. 4th Gen Intel models support DDR3, though specs list 1600 MHz; higher speeds like 2133 MHz are possible. The M.2 slot on the motherboard isn't suited for modern NVMe drives—stick to a SATA SSD instead. An RTX 4070 is too powerful for this setup; my previous 4790K configuration used a GTX 1070 and still couldn’t leverage it fully.
I plan on using a build that can handle gaming for at least five years. I also run some stock trading software that needs a bit more CPU power. What do you suggest? I prefer Intel and have around $2500 to spend. A little more or less is fine, and I feel a bit overwhelmed by all the options—I realize this goes beyond my knowledge. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Pat
