Hi everyone, I have an AORUS B450 Pro board running a Ryzen 2700X. I recently upgraded my RAM to 3600 modules, thinking it’s a solid choice for future upgrades. The main concern is figuring out how fast I can actually get from this RAM setup with my current motherboard.

The 2700x setup is extremely improbable. The second generation memory controller already has issues, making reliable 3600MHz performance difficult unless you avoid silicon problems. Most Gigabyte boards besides the Gaming 7 fall short in memory quality compared to B450 and X470 models.

The issue isn't with the motherboard, but with the CPU which is limited to 3200 MHz. You can still install RAM, but it will only run at that speed.

I'm excited about moving to 3900x, but it's not happening yet. That's why I'm reaching out. It looks like I might need to upgrade the motherboard too. Can I try to squeeze in 3433MHz with XMP underclocking before the upgrade?

Be ready for the stress test—it might not succeed. Still, it’s worth a shot.

Thanks. I’m not sure. Should I upgrade RAM to 3900x and wait for the 3200MHz upgrade, or just get a 3200MHz memory with a Cas 14?

Check the prices. 3600c16 and 3200c14 act alike.

I'm curious about how your 3000MHz stick managed to hit 3333MHz stable using XMP, especially considering it still works well in rendering and gaming.

Looking ahead, it's smart to plan for a 3900x upgrade. What do you think?

as mentioned, typically you can use 3600c16 ram with 3200c14 and the other way around. so pick whatever is more affordable—don’t worry about the difference, even with a 3900x
