Hello everyone, I just updated my CPU and wanted to check if the temperatures look typical. My system specs are: CPU i9 9900k, AIO Corsair H100i, MB Asus ROG Strix z390-F Gaming, RAM Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 3000MHz (32GB), SSD Seagate 2TB Firecuda 510 M.2 NVME, HDD Samsung 850 Evo 1TB, GPU MSI RTX 2080Ti, gaming PSU Corsair HX1000, case Corsair 780t White OS, and Windows 10 Pro. Screen resolution is set to 2k with a 4.8Ghz overclock achieved via Asus ROG Auto AI in BIOS. Here are the CPU-Z reports: https://www.screencast.com/t/huvioTvW6
For normal everyday tasks with many browser tabs, editors, FTP tools, Slack, and Skype running, temperatures hover around 38-50°C. When playing Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, they stay between 40-50°C, occasionally reaching 60°C. In Metro Exodus, temps peak at 60-70°C, with a maximum of 75°C during a hot day of coding, browsing, and an hour of gaming. Stress tests with Realbench for an hour reached a peak of 87°C.
Currently, in the UK it’s a cool 32-35°C with eight Firefox tabs open and Slack, Skype, and a few other lightweight apps running. A Cinebench run shows temperatures around 85°C.
These readings seem normal, though the Realbench test raised some concerns.
The core temperature stays manageable at 85°C under full 10-core load. I tend to skip auto overclocking and don’t suggest it, since these settings aren’t always the best. A stable 1.28V at 4.8 GHz works well. You could lower the voltage further by overclocking manually or adjusting BIOS settings. A more aggressive fan curve or pump profile might help bring temps down slightly. Compared to the Corsair H100i RGB Platinum, which uses aluminum with a 27mm radiator and thicker build, this model performs reasonably well.
