The main idea of the title is clear: I'm dealing with performance problems while trying to play Halo Infinite. The "Async Compute" setting isn't functioning properly on my PC, which led me to rely more on my CPU. After consulting a friend, I learned it's due to the TDP and checked the cTDP feature in BIOS. I tried higher power settings but saw limited gains. I considered pushing 100W, though I'm cautious about the Ryzen 5 1600 AF (2020 batch) and its power limits. I’m worried about safety and whether there are any options to improve my experience. The game’s performance varies by map—rough numbers around 40-50 FPS in "Live Fire," 50-75 in Behemoth, and slower elsewhere. But I suspect your CPU isn't the limiting factor, so it shouldn't affect the outcome. As you observed, increasing power draw to 85W had no impact. The real issue is your graphics card. Even at low settings in 1080p, the RX 570 would likely only achieve 40-60fps—consistent with what you're witnessing. The wide variation in FPS across maps suggests the scene's geometry is the main culprit, making "Live Fire" more demanding than "Behemoth," and other maps even more challenging.

The GPU is performing well under load, maintaining typical temperatures during intense gameplay without throttling. The task manager displays 100% utilization while playing. For the CPU, it appears to be operating below its maximum capacity thanks to the low TDP.

When the graphics card reaches full capacity, it operates at its maximum output and is probably the main factor restricting overall speed.

The GPU isn't the main problem. My brother's system uses a GTX 1650, and since Nvidia's drivers perform better than AMD's for Windows, he can take advantage of the "Async Compute" option. This setup works smoothly compared to my PC, which typically struggles against the RX 570 (running a Ryzen 5 2600).

1600 AF equals 2600 at a marginally slower clock rate. 1650 performs better in Halo compared to the RX 580.

The issue stems from the "Async Compute" setting. This lets the game utilize the GPU for all graphics tasks. He can turn it on, but I can't. As a result, both GPU and CPU are working on graphics, slowing things down compared to when only the GPU is used on his PC.

The problem isn't addressed by boosting TDP or increasing CPU clock speed. The solution involves switching to a different GPU with at least 6GB of VRAM.
