I purchased a 10700k from silicone lottery. When I got it, it was clocked at 5.0 with 4 cores and 5.1 with the other 4. The 850 doesn’t have the extra four-pin CPU connector. Will it be safe to power it down and change the clock speed to 8 pins instead of 5? I don’t plan to keep it at 5.0 until I receive my 1000, but I’m unsure if that’s safe.

Overclocking isn't done on the processor itself, but rather on the motherboard through the BIOS settings.
