Hi everyone, I’m not a big gamer, but I’ve put together a pretty powerful PC for video editing and other tasks. I thought I’d give a few games a shot. Civ VI is available for around $15 with a modest bundle, though opinions vary—some say it needs the Gathering Storm DLC to shine. That DLC is also on sale for another $20, so I’m wondering if it’s worth the extra cost at that price point.

It's tough for anyone else to determine what matters or not to you. Personally, I don't think the current game and its expansions are worth the investment; the added content feels excessively costly compared to what they deliver, and the base version falls short even without DLCs when contrasted with something like Civ5. I'd prefer suggesting Civ5 and its expansions during sales. Still, I'm bothered by the excessive greed shown, which influences my view on Civ6's value. Considering this, I should also note that I don't play multiplayer, so my perspective is limited to solo experiences versus AI opponents. If you're interested in playing against others, the experience could be quite different—for example, I know Civ5 tends to be unstable online.

I haven’t played any of those games before, right? Usually I play them for a few hours, and I’m not very skilled. A lower AI difficulty might suit me better, haha! I don’t know anyone who plays it, but I can look it up. I was just curious because some YouTubers mentioned it in videos and said it’s fun. I also heard about the Steam Refund offer for the first two hours if you’re not using it directly, but I’m not sure if that applies when getting a key from another source.
