Hello everyone. I recently installed my i7 6700k on a new mainboard. It wasn’t a major problem usually, but this time it didn’t fit properly—it just sat on top of the pins without aligning correctly. I considered taking it out and trying again, but when I attempted to lift it, it actually snapped into place. It might have been an accidental move that caused the alignment. After giving it a gentle shake, it seemed fine, and pushing down the lever worked smoothly. My system is running well overall, except for one front USB port that isn’t working. My concern is whether any pins got bent during installation, which could affect the USB port’s performance. The board’s ports themselves seem to be fine.

Generally, most USB functionality is managed by the motherboard's chipset. It’s possible the front USB port isn’t connected properly or is in the wrong slot.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The situation is that I have two front ports, with the left one functioning correctly and the right one not. I verified the cable and it appears to be properly seated. It might be that the port on the panel itself is the issue. This is related to your fractals meshify c case.

Hello! Yes, there is a USB port located next to your LAN port.

Hello, thank you for the updateSmile The port is located on the front panel, not on the mainboard.

It seems the issue might be with the chipset itself. The cable, port, or their combination could be the problem. If the connection from the chipset to the CPU isn't working properly, it could affect more than just one USB port. I'm just sharing my thoughts here. Have you taken out the CPU to check the socket and CPU?

I haven't taken it out yet. There are still four RAM sticks installed and recognized, and the CPU cleared Intel's check. Since those issues usually come from bent pins, I think it’s probably fine. Before swapping the cooler, I wanted to assess how likely a bent pin is causing this.
