The online community mentions a 110W power draw limit for the board, making it reasonable to expect performance at full load during gaming if the system reaches that capacity.

Some H610 models run poorly and cause high CPU usage, though the 12600K isn't extremely demanding. I think a B660 would be a better choice.

You're good there—it's a 500W power supply. That's not always true. The B660 doesn't support overclocking, while the Z690 boards are more affordable and could let you push the 12600k if needed.

You've purchased a Z60 and a 3060.

Estimate suggests a 12600K won't significantly limit performance with a 3060. In TPU's 7800X3D test, the typical gaming power usage (for that chip) was about 59 watts. Videos online usually show 60-80 watts, though rarely exceeding 90.

The 7800x3D power consumption isn't similar to a 12600k unit. When it needs to reach its peak performance, it can spike up to 200W. Reducing that maximum output by roughly half would lower its performance by about 20-30%. The GPU selection doesn't significantly impact many games, especially those limited by CPU power even with the best processors.

I understand. The review mentions average games and power consumption of recent test CPUs, while the original 12600K analysis omitted these figures. This seems unlikely in gaming contexts, though the user hasn't specified their own usage, so I assume it's for gaming purposes. The 12600K is less likely to reach maximum power draw with a GPU like that, whereas scenarios such as playing a 4090 at 1080p are more probable to cause issues, and in the videos I saw (though limited), it was the only case where the CPU hit over 100 watts.

The argument you're pointing out involves misunderstanding performance constraints. Most games hit limitations due to CPU bottlenecks, especially in multiplayer titles with heavy draw calls. However, some titles perform poorly even on lower-end hardware because they rely heavily on single-core processing and memory bandwidth. The key difference lies in how efficiently a game utilizes its resources, not just the number of cores.

I don't understand your point exactly. I mainly watch YouTube videos and record their typical power use. My focus here is on gaming power usage and whether someone should upgrade their motherboard. Most videos show higher numbers than the TPU review (around 59 watts), but still within range for a budget board. The one with a 4090 chipset is quite high (usually over 100 watts on average), though it stands out as an exception rather than the norm in the videos I've seen. Better performance GPUs with lower resolutions often mean higher CPU power draw, which can be noticeable. Certain games like MMOs or strategy/RTS titles may use more power even if their graphics cards aren't top-tier.
